Booking, Insurance, and Self-Pay

Book a virtual appointment (Self-pay can book immediately; if you will use insurance, please see below and message me to verify coverage first. Please note that my calendar shows availability only two weeks out, so please contact me if you are booking farther in advance of if you don't see a time that works for you here. I can usually make time to see you for a virtual appointment soon.)

Currently I can see patients nationwide with plans from many insurance companies (most PPOs and some HMOs), including but not limited to the ones below. Both virtual and in-home visits are covered. I want my lactation care to be accessible. Please contact me at 408-337-9190 or [email protected] to ask if I am in network with your plan (I am part of a group practice so my name will probably not show up on your insurance's site). I will respond within 24 hours and usually much sooner, and it is OK to text me at night. Here are some of the companies I'm in network with.

If insurance does not cover my services, my fees are commensurate with local rates in the San Francisco Bay Area:

  • Initial visit (virtual): $160

  • Follow-up visit (virtual): $125

  • Initial visit (in-person): $285

  • Follow-up visit (in-person): $225

  • Add $50 per baby to these rates for multiples

Self-pay visit lengths vary depending on your needs and how you and your baby are feeling. While I strive to be flexible, in-person self-pay initial visits typically last up to 90 minutes and follow-ups up to 60 minutes. Virtual initial visits usually last up to 75 minutes and follow-ups up to 45 minutes. Insurance visits may be shorter due to reimbursement rates but I will make myself available for a very early follow-up appointment, often within the next couple of days if you need it. For self-pay visits I can provide you with a superbill upon request to submit to your insurance company. I can offer financial assistance to some self-pay clients so please contact me for more information.

I provide text, email, and secure portal support after your appointment though I may recommend another visit if it's a more complicated question, depending on how much time has passed since we made the original plan.

I reserve occasional virtual pro-bono visits for families experiencing financial hardship. Contact me for more information. I can't accommodate everyone, but I want more people to have access to quality, compassionate, evidence-based lactation care and education. If I'm not able to see you personally, I do also offer three free virtual support groups (Spanish/Portuguese, low milk supply, and chronic pain/hypermobility/EDS).

I will review and adjust fees periodically as my practice grows.
